SunButter Sunflower Butter – Food Review!

SunButter’s sunflower butter is an allergy free alternative to the household staple – Peanut Butter.

SunButter usually sells for about $5 or $6 a jar. I’ve seen it at most stores that sell standard peanut butter and at online stores as well. It’s actually one of the few allergy free items I can pick up at my local grocery store which has made it an amazing find for me and my family! I live in a small rural town, without even a Walmart or Dollar General, so finding something safe they will continue to stock at my local grocer is nothing short of a miracle some times.

The taste is a bit sunflower seed-ey. I personally love sunflower seeds, I practically spent all summer with them in my mouth as a kid, so I’m a little bit biased towards the flavor. I have eated it plain on apples, celery, and even on slices of allergy-free bread and love it. I do recognize that the flavor may not be for everyone, but if you’re not a huge fan of the flavor it is pretty easily masked by mixing it into other flavors such as with my Allergy Free Puppy Chow.

Texture wise, it’s similar to creamy peanut butter. I’m not aware of a crunchy version out there, but please let me know if I’m wrong! It is oily like a real peanut butter would be, so it requires a little stirring before use but that isn’t a problem for me. I haven’t had any issues using it in recipes where I’d use peanut butter so I’d consider it a direct replacement.

I definitely recommend this to anyone avoiding peanuts or the top allergens but looking for a suitable substitute. It’s got a creamy texture and is a direct replacement for peanut butter. Even at the price I would definitely consider having this as a household staple.
