On a busy weekday night Cheeseburger Sliders are a favorite go to. This recipe takes minimal effort, and about an hour until it’s ready… nearly all of which time the food is in the oven and you don’t have to worry about it.
For the buns, I always use King’s Hawaiian rolls. They’re sweet and soft and taste so good in this recipe! You can find slider rolls out there, and if you love them definitely try them here. My house definitely prefers the Hawaiian rolls though so that is what I have to recommend! Cut them in half from one end of the whole loaf (don’t separate them into individual buns until later)
For the meat, I highly recommend using the leanest ground beef you can find. I always go woth the 93-7 from my local grocery store, but ground turkey or a slightly fattier beef would work well too!
I also recommend two baking dishes. I’ve tried using one, but frankly the first is just too greasy after the beef has been in there for me to be happy with the outcome. Use a smaller 7×11″ pan to press your lean ground beef into a rectangle patty (this size fits PERFECTLY into the Hawaiian roll buns). Then use a standard 11×13″ when baking it all together, this larger pan also leaves room for cutting it into individual sandwiches later!
I always season my lean ground beef with garlic and seasoning salt! It helps to kick up the flavor and doesn’t leave you with a big favorless hunk of meat even though it’s being baked rather than fried or grilled. Then I mix it up with my hands and press it into the smaller baking dish so that it’s fairly even all around. I do try to push it up a little on the edges because as it cooks the meat will shrink and I want it to be as even as possible when it’s done.
After the meat is cooked, place it between the halves of the Hawaiian rolls and top with cheese. Then I like to brush on garlic butter onto the tops of the tolls so that they have a delicious flavor to compliment the meat and cheese underneath.
After your cheese and meat are cooked thoroughly and you have a delicious golden masterpiece, take it out of the oven and use that knife again to cut the cheeseburger loaf into individual sandwiches. Remove the top of the individual sandwiches to add your lettuce, pickles, and condiments. I find it much easier to do it this way than try to assume what everyone will want on their burgers. It also helps with certain allergies or someone is trying to avoid tomatoes for example I’m not putting them on the whole loaf, just on the sandwiches that want it. It can also be easily made with only putting cheese on half of the loaf, making sure to cut it so that there isn’t cheese on the half that was trying to avoid it.
Easy Cheeseburger Sliders

Ingredients:
- 2 lbs. Lean ground beef
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder, plus more to taste
- 1/2 Tbsp seasoning salt
- 1 pkg King’s Hawaiian rolls
- 6 slices of American cheese
- 2 Tbps butter (melted)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large mixing bowl use your hands to mix in garlic powder and seasoning salt into the ground beef.
- Press ground beef into a 7×11″ rectangle baking dish. Bake at 400 degrees uncovered for about 25 minutes. Remove from oven and drain the grease off the cooked hamburger
- Use a knife to cut the Hawaiian rolls in half so that there is a top and bottom. Don’t separate the individual rolls
- Place the bottom half of the hawaiian rolls in an 11×13″ baking dish. Place the cooked hamburger on top of the bread and layer on your slices of cheese. Then place on the top half of the hawaiian rolls
- Melt butter and mix in a dash or two of garlic powder. Brush the garlic butter over the tops of the rolls so that they are well coated.
- Bake in the oven again at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted
- Remove from the oven and use your knife to cut into individual sandwiches
- Top each sandwich with toppings and condiments of choice
Notes:
- Can leave off the cheese or use a dairy free cheese slice as a replacement. If using a dairy free cheese, cook longer the second time so that the cheese will melt fully.
- Our favorite toppings include lettuce, pickles, catchup, mayo, and onion slices!
